Ossian a blind bard is the narrator, and supposed author, of a cycle of poems singing of the life and battles of Fingal, a Scotch warrior from the early dark ages. The Scottish poet James Macpherson claimed to offer a translation from ancient manuscripts in the Scots Gaelic.
