After having an acrimonious argument with his girlfriend, Greg Wallace takes his
vicious temper out on the wrong person: a wandering vagrant. As luck would have
it, this is not just any wandering vagrant, but one who retains powerful grudges
against those who do him wrong. Later when Greg is involved in a serious
accident in which he breaks both his legs, the vagrant is the only person who
finds him. But rescue, however, is the last thing on the vagrant's mind: he
wants retribution. Too isolated for help to reach him and with his condition
rapidly deteriorating, Greg is forced to engage in a psychological game of cat
and mouse with the evil transient which ends up dragging in innocent passers-by
and even those Greg cares about. A ruthless battle of wills ensues with every
manner of Red Herring thrown in along the way, leading to a shattering climax.
