"Miss Independent" is a song by American pop/R&B singer Ne-Yo. It is the third single from his album Year of the Gentleman and was produced by Stargate. It samples from the song "Forget About Me" by Little Bit.

It was released as a music download on August 26, 2008 and physical release in September 2008.

Ne-Yo shot the video for "Miss Independent" with director Chris Robinson on Monday, August 11, 2008 in Santa Monica, CA. Keri Hilson, Lauren London,Gabrielle Union and Trey Songz make cameos in the video.

"Miss Independent" has debuted at #98 on the Billboard Hot 100. The next week it made a big jump to #32. The following week it climbed to #27. It hit the top twenty the following week, climbing to #20, and giving Ne-Yo his second consecutive top twenty hit from the album. On the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, the song has been much more successful than the first single from the album, "Closer", reaching #5 so far, giving Ne-Yo his eighth top ten hit on the chart.

On August 31, 2008, the song entered the UK Singles Chart at #39 on downloads alone and has so far peaked at #9.
