In the beautiful lush tea gardens in Kenya, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, millions of tea-workers struggle everyday – fighting to survive. They are plucking tea for multinational companies such as Lipton and Finlay’s. The companies promise the consumers to protect the environment and ensure good working and living conditions for the workers. Nothing could be more wrong. The western consumers have turned to Fairtrade because Fairtrade/Max Havelaar guarantees, that the workers in the Fairtrade certified tea estates get a little extra money, every time the consumer buys their tea. This film tells the true story of how Fairtrade is not at all fair.

Director Biographical note:
Erling Borgen has worked as a journalist for more than 30 years, and was employed by NRK (the Norwegian Broadcasting Company) for 22 years. In 1999 he have made 22 in depth television documentaries. In 2000 he received the “Kryger\" – prize for outstanding and excellent journalism from the National Danish Broadcasting Service (DR). In June 2006 he directed \"A Killer Bargain\". In 2007 the film won the Prix Italia in the current affair selection. The film has totally won eight international awards and has been sold to 16 countries.
