Pastorale is a special album in many ways. Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel set out to create, in Rumbel's words, "an album of intimate music...to give people an opportunity to find a calm place within themselves." Rumbel composed "Reverence," the last track on the disc, in memory of her father, Joe E. Rumbel, who passed away on January 19, 1997. (It is one of the sweetest compositions one might ever hear.) She also dedicates her performance on this CD to him. Tingstad & Rumbel achieved their goal. This is a very gentle, dignified, and playful soundscape. Rumbel's sense of humor shines, and Tingstad's exuberance sparkles. This peaceful gem is irresistible.
