Remake de The Crazies (1973) dirigida por George A. Romero. David Dutton (Timothy Olyphant) es el sheriff de Ogden Marsh, un casi-perfecto pueblo pequeño americano donde todos sus habitantes obedecen la ley. Sin embargo, una noche, uno de ellos acude a un partido de baseball cargado con una recortada listo para matar. Otro hombre prende fuego a su casa después de encerrar a su mujer e hijo pequeño en un armario. Algo está afectando a los ciudadanos del lugar convirtiéndoles en seres completamente locos. El sheriff, su mujer embarazada, una asistente del centro médico y el ayudante del sheriff trataran de hacer lo posible por escapar de lugar con vida.
