Aussie alt-folkies Todd Mayhew and Sivan Agam -- The April Maze -- have been making their own special brand of strummy acousticism in Melbourne for seven years, pretty much wowing the most cynical of scribes with a sound that's part nocturnal melancholy, part heel-pounding dynamics. Agam's cello and ear-grabbing vocals meet head on with Mayhew's guitar licks and banjo picks as the pair's harmonies sail confidently overhead.
