Against Me! is an American punk rock band formed in 1997 in Gainesville, Florida by singer and guitarist Laura Jane Grace (Formerly Tom Gabel), with James Bowman as a mainstay of the group since 2001.

Charting repeatedly in the mid 2000s, Against Me! reached new heights of popularity in 2014 when the band's lead singer (then Tom Gabel) came out as Transgender. Against Me! went on to release "Transgender Dysphoria Blues" the same year and "Shape Shift With Me" in 2016, both of which deal with Transgender and LGBTQ+ themes, as well as the anarchistic and general punk themes the band was originally known for.
