Disney's onweerstaanbare pratende puppies keren terug in een gloednieuwe film die ze meeneemt naar een plek waar geen enkele Buddy eerder is geweest: de maan! Met de hulp van een aantal nieuwe sterrenvrienden is dit buitenaardse avontuur een kleine stap voor de hond en een reusachtige sprong voor de hondenwereld. De Buddies en hun twee nieuwe vrienden Spudnick en Gravity moeten hun moed en vindingrijkheid verzamelen om een maanlanding en een raketvlucht naar huis te plannen.
