On the afternoon of Friday, October 13, 1972 launched one of the most controversial
and inspiring survival stories.An airplane with a young rugby team
from Uruguay crashed into the Andes.
Several of the passengers died instantly with the majority survived.
In eight days they sat and waited to be rescued.
But there was never any help and on the radio they heard that they had given
up the search. Food and drink was almost over and forced to for ten weeks to
endure in a Temperature below freezing did the survivors of the unimaginable
by doing the unthinkable until three of the boys, Nando Parrado (Ethan Hawke),
Antonio Balbi (Vincent Spano) and Roberto Canessa ( Josh Hamilton),
left the camp on foot in a heroic attempt to get help below the hills..
Alive is a 1993 movie, based on a true story, directed by Frank Marshall.
It is based upon Piers Paul Read's 1974 book Alive: The Story of the Andes
Survivors, which itself was based upon interviews with survivors
of the crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 on October 13, 1972...
