Diep in de woestijn van New Mexico zoekt archeoloog Kale (Luke Goss) naar antwoorden voor een eeuwenoud mysterie: hoe kon een stam Indianen van de aardbodem verdwijnen, zonder een spoor achter te laten?
Tijdens zijn zoektocht wekt Kale per ongeluk een eeuwenoud, mythish monster.
Het duurt niet lang voor dieren en mensen op raadselachtige wijze verdwijnen.
De plaatselijke sheriff (Emmanuelle Vaugier) onderzoekt de verdwijningen en komt al snel tot de conclusie dat er iets in de duisternis schuilt...
Onder leiding van de sheriff proberen de plaatselijke bewoners zichzelf te beschermen tegen het kwaad.
