Here is a plugin called TAL-Dac from the guys from Togu Audio Line. The plugin is based on the TAL-Sampler sound engine and gives you an excellent virtual simulator of rare sampling. It emulates a sample recorded at a low sampling rate with a reduced bit depth and raises it to the desired host sampling rate. You can select different algorithms for the upsampling process to emulate the characteristics of different samplers.
