Thin Lizzy est un groupe de rock irlandais formé à Dublin en 1969. À l'origine un trio composé d'Eric Bell (guitariste), Phil Lynott (bassiste, chanteur et principal compositeur) et Brian Downey (batteur), le groupe connaît un premier succès en 1973 avec Whiskey In The Jar, une adaptation d'un air traditionnel irlandais. Après le départ de Eric Bell, remplacé par les guitaristes Brian Robertson et Scott Gorham, Thin Lizzy atteint le sommet de sa popularité en faisant évoluer sa musique vers le hard rock.

THIN LIZZY fait partie de ces groupes qui ont marqué l'histoire du rock et du hard rock.
Ce coffret met en évidence l'incroyable ascension de Thin Lizzy depuis les tout début en trio jusqu'aux heures de gloire avec la tournée de 1981 et le hit The Boys are Back In Town.
Toute la carrière du groupe y est abordée, même le dernier concert de Phil Lynott au festival de Reading de 1983.
La BBC a apporté l'ensemble de ses archives, malheureusement certaines bandes avaient été perdues ou effacées.
Les fans ont alors pris le relais pour apporter ce qu'ils avaient enregistré et conservé.
