FFXIV 1.0 opening sequence slaps but SQUARE ENIX screwed up big time when they uploaded two versions of this one on FFXIV's youtube channels. hardcoded overlaid Japanese text alongside some incredibly blurry picture quality but hey at least the actual video quality looks alright
this, on the other hand, not only looks higher-quality but much sharper as well! and it's an untouched WMV file to boot!

i pulled this one from an illegaly-uploaded dump of 1.0 DVD-ROM disc, which had InstallShield-packed files i went out of my way to extract to another folder using UniExtract2. it error'd out to shit but hey i got all the files there so it's all good!
and from there, all i had to do was look for the largest .DAT file the game ever had, renamed it to an actual ID that the game executable (ffxivboot.exe) calls for to invoke the FMV sequence, and renamed its DAT extension to WMV.
yes, this is the WMV you are about to download right now!
what it has here is a WMV3 MP@HL video track (*) with 5.1ch WMA 10 Pro audio track on top of (with 440kbps bitrate to boot!), meaning it's perfectly playable!
so, just in case you need to watch this somehow but don't want the blurry looking youtube videos, please give this one a shot!
