✨Pretty Cure Mixed Magical Girl Warriors With Fan Service To Attract A Male Audience
Masterminded by "Izumi Todo" (a pseudonym for a collection of animators at Toei Animation), Pretty Cure is one of the biggest names in the genre since the turn of the century. It has a new series each year since its release in 2004. As well as establishing itself as a serious cash cow franchise, the show follows a basic formula for each new spin-off series from the main one. Fairy ambassadors from an alternate dimension are sent to Earth, tasked with granting their abilities to ordinary high school girls whose mission is to save both worlds. Pretty Cure is notable for using all the familiar tropes of the Magical Girl Genre, while also breaking some of its rules. As such, it is specifically targeted at an older, male demographic as opposed to the younger, female audience that Magical Girl shows usually cater to.
