Trama:
La Shuto Expressway è una famosa autostrada che corre attorno a Tokyo che a mezzanotte diventa teatro di corse clandestine tra auto preparate.
Il Wangan è un lungo rettilineo della Shuto, famoso per le altissime velocità che si raggiungono.
Akio, giovane liceale, viene battuto da una misteriosa Porsche Turbo nera soprannominata "BlackBird" e decide di vendere la sua Fairlady Z per acquistare un'auto che aveva visto anni prima, ora incidentata, in vendita da un demolitore.
Questa è una mitica Nissan/Datsun Z (S30) preparata pesantemente con un motore 2.8 trasformato biturbo (modifica molto in voga all'epoca)
Attorno a quest'auto però aleggia un'aura negativa che terrorizza tutti quelli che la vedono sulla Wangan, un aura che ha radici lontane...
