Encoding Note:

To produce a BDRip for F/Z with a decent quality and an acceptable file-size is challenging. We had to confront its extremely heavy noise and abundant dark scenes.

De-noise is a must in order to save and concentrate the bit-rate on meaningful details; otherwise the file-size easily gets doubled. However, de-noise is also dangerous because dark scenes are vulnerable in de-noise process which brutally wipes out actual details if not handled with care.

We designed a scene-adaptive de-noise scheme, with protection and repair, then deployed HEVC encoding in this project. All of the efforts are for one purpose: a decent quality with an acceptable file-size.
