In 1968, the second and final LP by the Canadian Paupers was released. A final single, "Cairo Hotel," was released simultaneously, but it failed to chart. The band broke up in August 1969. The Paupers were simply irresistible live. It was a captivating spectacle, built, as one critic described it, "on earth-shaking drums, whining guitar, and a thumping bass."
