The generation of nuclear, industrial and domestic wastes and their potential impacts on humans and the environment during management and disposal continues to pose one of the most challenging problems facing society today. Public and political pressures promoting sustainable resource consumption and ensuring adequate environmental protection have placed increasing demands on generators, policy makers and managers of waste.
