De coffeeshop was dertig jaar lang het symbool van Nederlands unieke tolerantie en vrijheid. Maar sinds enkele jaren lijkt de wietbranche zijn onschuld te hebben verloren. Het gedoogbeleid dat de voordeur van de coffeeshop tot een gewone winkeldeur maakt, heeft namelijk niet voorzien in een goede regeling van productie en aanvoer van de handel: de achterdeur. En daarmee staat de coffeeshop feitelijk op de grens van de boven- en de onderwereld.

De spraakmakende Teledoc documentaire Nederwiet stapt dóór de achterdeur van de coffeeshop de onderwereld in. Een wereld waar niets met zekerheid te zeggen valt. Maar waar idealisme en genot het langzaam lijken af te leggen tegen hebzucht en geweld.

For over 30 years the coffeeshop was the Dutch symbol for unique tolerance and freedom. Since several years the cannabis business seems to have lost its innocence. The decriminalization policy, which turned the front door of the coffeeshop into an ordinary door or a store, does not regulate the produce and supply of cannabis. This is now sent to the backdoor, putting the coffeeshop on the line of the upper- and underworld.

The highly discussed documentary Teledoc: Nederweed enters the backdoor of the coffeeshop underworld. A world where nothing is certain, but where idealism and pleasure seem to lose from greed and violence.
