1/7. When high-flying lawyer Rebecka Martinsson hears about the death of a dear childhood friend, she reluctantly leaves Stockholm and heads to her far-flung home town in Kiruna. Upon her arrival, it becomes apparent that everything is not as it seems and her friend Mildred, who was the local priest, has been murdered. Hatred of the liberal priest turns out to be deeply-rooted among the local inhabitants and, along with the police superintendent, Rebecka is drawn into the pursuit of her killer. Meanwhile, in Stockholm, her boyfriend waits impatiently as Rebecka begins to question where she really belongs.
