There are two shortcuts, both open batch files.

The "Play Online" shortcut simply opens your default browser to the original
homepage of Super Mario Bros Crossover to play as intended and support It's development.
As well you should!
Although...
The game has been made intentionally difficult to play offline, again to help gain the support the developers deserve.
However, If you have the desire to play, but the inability of online play for whatever reason,
here is the work around.

The "Play Offline" shortcut opens a simple batch file consisting a modified hosts file set to overide the one you currently have. This is to trick the included server into thinking your home ip 127.0.0.1 is the original website.
To be able to visit www.explodingrabbit.com again you must either replace your original hosts file you backed up, OR,
simply open the "Play Online" shortcut just once to be able to view the original site online. If the webpage www.explodingrabbit.com opens to a blank page, thats why.
The batch file then opens the Shockwave Flash Preloader found on the site in Adobe Flash Player 12.
As the original prompt says, Press [CTRL+F] for full screen (not widescreen) and [Escape] to return to window.
