Launching the San Francisco Bay Area's avant-garde ukulele revival in the late-2000s were a group of friends who began dressing up and doing cover versions of entire albums from Purple Rain to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars.
Strangely, though, most of them, when put in recording studios began to record bizarre, often achingly personal collections of songs.
