Hermitude’s fifth album finds the electronic explorers taking in everything they’ve learned on their two-decade-long journey thus far. Dark funk, hip-hop and synth-tastic squiggles feed these atmospheric dreamscapes and danceable party-starters. The trap-infused “Through the Roof” does what it says on the tin when vocalist Young Tapz drops in for a verse, and they cool it off with Balearic disco-house vibes on the instrumental “Bermuda Bay”. It’s hip-hop, it’s wonky, it’s an electronic squelch fest on soda pop—and it will set your night on fire.
