Gustav Mahler's Fourth Symphony, recorded by Lorin Maazel, Kathleen Battle (soprano) and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and released by CBS Masterworks (yes CBS Masterworks!) in 1984. This is still the greatest recording of this symphony ever released! (Please keep in mind that I may be biased concerning this point, considering the fact that this was one of the first classical CDs I ever purchased-in 1990!)
