Although some-including Stravinsky himself-thought that Karajan's approach was too civilized for this piece, this recording of The Rite of Spring (1977) is very powerful indeed, and one will never hear a more talented orchestra perform it. As well, this performance of Apollo (1973) is truly second to none. You will not be disappointed with either of these recordings.
